Socrates Grundtvig 2: Parents Empowerment and Active Citizenship Excercise – P.E.A.C.E.
Project Description
The aim of the project was to improve the parental relationship between the three groups of beneficiaries: families of immigrant or minority communities, families with handicapped children and families living in rural areas. The project promoted self-confidence among the final beneficiaries, modern methodologies and informal forms of education.
In the first year of the project a questionnaire survey among the participants was carried out. In each country Open Day was held, designed to ensure dialogue between parents and exchange experiences about ways of coping with similar problems.
In the second year of the project a collection of good practices was prepared to provide assistance for families of children with disabilities, immigrants and those who live far from urban areas. Published and translated book was a result of the project. Poland held a pilot training. The partners also developed a guide in the Internet for parents from the target groups. The questionnaire evaluation helped to prepare a set of exercises to support parents in navigating the Internet. Partnership meetings were held within the project and aimed to exchange opinions and experiences between the parents.
