Socrates Minerva: Simulating Careers for Women - Sitcom


Project Description

The project was aimed to encourage girls and young women aged from 12 to 16 years to education in the fields related to information technology, science and engineering by using immense possibilities of games and simulations. The project helped young girls understand how science is related to the real world, and to helped them understand the positive impact of ICT, science and engineering on society. The main product of this project was an online platform that offered help in taking decision about future career by providing a large number of sources. The most important element of the platform is a fun game that allows to simulate a typical day in engineering, science and ICT associated professions. Characteristic for technical fields concepts were taught through interactive exercises and simulations. Specially designed biographies of female technicians, scientists and engineers as well as links to other sites with information about technology, communications, science and engineering are available on the SITCOM platform. Resourceful platform provided support to girls and young women in decision-making process in experimental and playful way.
